Chaste Tree

Vitex agnus-castus

Chaste Tree

The chaste tree is a small deciduous tree or large shrub with showy violet  flower spikes. The flowers appear in the spring and summer and attract butterflies. Will tolerate dry conditions, but will perform better with light water. Moderately frost hardy. Usually multi-stemmed. Useful for areas where there is not room for a larger tree. It can be planted in small or narrow areas and pruned to achieve desired clearance and shading.
